The Faculty 

The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences provides high quality, innovative programs of teaching and learning, research and consulting and continuing professional education to clients of wide backgrounds, both nationally and internationally in a spectrum of disciplines. The Faculty offers a range of courses from undergraduate through to doctoral studies specialising in Communication, Education and International Studies.

The Faculty Research Office is seeking to recruit an HDR Administration Coordinator to join their team in providing all administrative support and advice to current and prospective HDR students and relevant staff on HDR matters.

The Role

The position holder will support the Faculty’s research objectives to improve the recruitment, retention and timely completion of HDR students through better candidature management and to integrate HDR support into research support in the Faculty more widely.

If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and timely advice to potential HDR candidates
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of the relevant functionality in the Student Management System (CASS) and producing relevant reports for key stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the Faculty’s HDR admission assessment and scholarship ranking is complete and in line with the University requirements
  • Secretarial support for Research Degrees Committee
  • Organising and delivering administrative support to Faculty research student-related events

About You

The successful candidate will be expected to prioritise tasks and activities according to the requirements of the Faculty’s strategic directions and operational needs, while working autonomously within the general direction of the Research Manager.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan workflow and work under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
  • Proven capacity to interpret complex policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated excellence in client service delivery and strong commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating projects under broad direction.
  • Completed a degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Base Salary Range: $89,171 to $98,644 pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
