The Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Machine Elements and Machine Design seeks to fill the 

Chair (W3) of Virtual Product Development

from 1st April 2020.  

The successful applicant must represent the discipline of product development in mechanical engineering in teaching and research. The teaching obligations are mainly in the fundamentals of design, the development process in design, virtual and interdisciplinary product development, and PDM/PLM, as well as virtual and augmented reality. It is expected that the successful candidate will be willing and able to teach in English. It is also assumed that the applicant will take an active part in academic selfadministration.  

The successful applicant will possess an outstanding international scientific reputation both in the design of mechanical engineering products with a focus on methodological product design, development of cybertronic systems, systems engineering, and in the development of complex information technological solutions for product development with a focus on product lifecycle management, virtual and augmented reality, and reverse engineering. It is explicitly desirable for the candidate to have practical experience in the conceptual design and the implementation of the abovementioned paradigms in enterprises. The ability to meet requirements for pedagogical and subject-specific didactic qualifications is also of fundamental importance.
Applicants should have experience in the management of national and international projects in the fields of research and development. It will be expected to acquire basic and industrial research projects independently. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
