The George Mason University, Department of Modern and Classical Languages, is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Term Assistant Professor of Italian, beginning August 2019


The successful candidate will teach all levels of language, literature and culture courses in Italian. Teaching responsibilities are 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should be fluent in Italian and English, hold a Ph.D. in Italian, and have teaching experience in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of language instruction. They should also be able to teach courses in English on Italian literature and cinema across a broad range of periods and topics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants who are able to create new courses featuring Italian-American studies, the Italian diaspora and immigration studies are particularly invited to apply. We seek candidates who have the energy and commitment to contribute to our vibrant program, which has a Minor in Italian Studies and an active student-led club.
