Screen and enroll subjects for several, federally-funded studies investigating interventions designed to understand risk factors for Staphylococcus aureus infections and to decrease the incidence of infections due to antibiotic resistant bacteria. The study patients can be current hospital inpatients or outpatients.

Other duties include obtaining informed consent from study subjects or their proxies; ensure protocol compliance; data abstraction from medical records; data entry, maintain patient and data tracking system, chart preparation; participate in the development of study materials and procedures; participate in weekly research team meetings, work with project staff. This position also involves collection and coordination of biological samples with transport to the microbiology laboratory as well as coordination of study activities with data management. This position reports directly to the study’s project manager; requires flexibility to work occasional nights/weekends.

Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of research experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Clinical experience preferred.Familiarity with medical abbreviations and antibiotics a plus; ability to work with greater independence also with regard to decision-making.

Proficient in Microsoft Windows including MS Word/Excel/Access; REDCap database familiarity preferred.

Must have the ability to work independently and be detail oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; highly organized.

Ability to interact well with hospital inpatients patients in a one-on-one setting required. This position requires flexibility to work occasional nights/weekends.
