With a diverse, interdisciplinary and collaborative ethos, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is looking for an outstanding
academic and strategic leader for its next exciting stage of development. Home to nine academic departments and 25 research centres with a very strong international reputation, it is ranked 36th in the world for Education, 44th for Arts and Humanities, and 88th for Social Sciences in the Times Higher Education World Rankings 2019. 

The Faculty has a truly impressive UK league table performance, with 15 of the 17 undergraduate subjects in the top ten of the 2019 Times and Sunday Times subject league tables. Creative Writing, Criminology and German are in number one position.

With an equally impressive research reputation, Politics, Philosophy and Religion ranking third overall for research and top in the UK for research impact in the most recent Research Excellence Framework. Sociology was ranked third for world-leading research and second for impact, and English Language and Literature was ranked third for research power.

As an outstanding collaborative leader, you will combine a record of academic achievement in the arts, humanities or social sciences, with the ability to develop and implement successful academic and leadership strategies. You will have the interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate others, fostering a supportive environment which drives equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as intra-faculty and interdisciplinary work.

We off er a highly competitive salary and a comprehensive set of benefi ts including the USS pension scheme, work-life
