Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Clinical Associate Professor of Practice/Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 495768), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Over recent years, the Faculty has pursued a strategy to expand our patient base thereby providing opportunities for high-quality clinical research in a wider spectrum of diseases and clinical conditions as well as teaching and learning in different and diverse clinical settings that fully reflect the mixed health economy locally and nationally.  HKU Health System is the umbrella executive arm overseeing the Faculty’s clinical enterprises to ensure robust clinical governance for those services, as well as being the branding focal point of the teaching, research and clinical activities therein.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, a postgraduate specialist qualification, preferably with five years' post-qualification experience.  They should be in active medical practice with evidence of regional recognition of clinical excellence.  They should also be a strong and diligent communicator and be able to work under pressure, with a strong sense of teamwork and demonstrated ability to connect and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. An excellent command of English and Chinese; a high level of communication, interpersonal, presentation and organisational skills; and good computer literacy are required. Experience in hospital commissioning and administration is an advantage.

The appointee will join the HKU Health System team and provide support in the establishment and development of Teaching Hospital projects in Hong Kong and China. He/She will also support the challenging process of forging and maintaining strong alliances between the Faculty and our clinical partners; involve in all clinical related aspects of the work of the HKU Health System team; and perform any other duties as assigned.  Occasional travelling outside Hong Kong may be required.  The appointee will be encouraged to enrol in specialist training programme in Administrative Medicine of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine.  Applicants who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 201801475) need not re-apply. 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
