Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement & maintenance of the University’s enterprise business applications. This includes: development, operation & maintenance of all enterprise administrative systems (Advancement, Financials, HR, Portal and Student Information Systems, Non Credit Education, Business Intelligence, etc.), configuration management, maintenance, enhancements, and application integration.

Essential Job Duties

This position will serve as a member of the REPORTER team, the campus-wide non-credit registration system for Compliance Training and Outreach and Engagement activities.

This position will play an essential role in the design, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of the system. This position will work with campus stakeholders and IT colleagues to design and maintain functionality for the system, in regards to registration, compliance, and payment.

The position will serve as a Developer/Business Analyst for the team, assisting with gathering requirements from customers, solving production issues, as well as developing and implementing new solutions.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in business application consulting, programming or development; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Required Skills

  • Ability to combine strong functional knowledge with a strong understanding of customer requirements to offer customer solutions to problems in a very practical, timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to independently, quickly, and efficiently identify and solve technical problems that can impact a large number of customers.
  • Possess strong judgment, leadership, communication, diplomacy, collaboration, and organization skills.
  • Ability to interact positively and communicate appropriately with a diverse group, including executives, managers, team members, campus representatives, and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the project development life cycle, including but not limited to customer requirements gathering, application analysis, development, testing, documentation, approval and post migration validation.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in the Agile Software Development model preferred, but not required.
  • Previous software development experience preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with the Mendix development platform, Java or PHP preferred, but not required.
  • Exposure to registration and/or enrollment systems preferred, but not required.
