Director of Programs:
A large lab within the Department of Psychology is looking for a Director of Programs. The Director of Programs will work under the direction of PERTS program leadership to implement the vision and strategy of key programs and initiatives, including the Engagement Project. The Engagement Project is one of our newest programs in which teachers use evidence-based strategies and get feedback from their students through surveys to make changes in their students’ outcomes.
PERTS is an applied research center at Stanford University that partners with schools, colleges, and other organizations to improve student motivation and achievement on a large scale. In the process, PERTS conducts research that enables us to improve our programs and to expand what is known about academic motivation.
The Director of Programs will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and advancing the aims and programmatic strategy of the PERTS team while at the same time project managing programs/initiatives throughout their cycle. Duties will include: developing an overarching programmatic strategy plan and detailed timeline for execution; Coordinating with PERTS staff, contractors, and external partners to ensure the implementation of programs/products align with long-term PERTS goals; Coordinating market research initiatives to meet and exceed stakeholder and user needs; Promoting the goals of PERTS through outreach and funding initiatives including presentations, proposals, and conference participation (either in-person or via the web); Managing the development and improvements to the Program Materials.
The ideal candidate must have experience working in the K-12 and/or higher education as well as experience in program management/product development/sales. The candidate must be good with engaging in outreach activities, such as developing new relationships with teachers, schools, and districts as well as with key networks that our team is involved in. It is critical that the candidate has extensive knowledge of the U.S. education system and its stakeholders. Finally, because the project is fast-moving with rapidly changing priorities, the candidate must have excellent organization and communication skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving priorities.
This is one year fixed term position with possibility of renewal.

- Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.
- Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
- Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.
- Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school by committing resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Manage and contribute e to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.
- May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.
- Assess training needs and may develop associated training.
- May direct and/or supervise staff.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
