The George Mason University Economics Department is seeking a Graduate Programs Assistant to support the department’s marketing strategy of its graduate programs as well as assist the Director of Graduate Programs and the Graduate Coordinator with all other aspects of the economics graduate programs as needed. The Graduate Programs Assistant reports to the Economics Director of Graduate Programs and will be responsible for coordinating with the Director of Graduate Programs and the Graduate Coordinator to develop a marketing strategy to improve outreach and communications with potential and actual applicants and then implementing the marketing strategy using the Department website, electronic communications, and other methods of outreach. Duties include:
Liaise with the college’s marketing team and facilitate the flow of information between the college’s marketing team and the Graduate Studies Office to refine, finalize, and continually update the department’s marketing strategy;
Collaborate with other relevant university units on digital marketing initiatives and printed documents; and
Assist the Director of Graduate Programs and the Graduate Coordinator with the admissions process and, as needed, with other academic affairs.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Familiarity with the use of technology and media (web, Twitter, Facebook, other social media) and/or other techniques to promote academic programs;
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong creative skills;
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies;
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team; and
- Responsible management of data.
- Master’s degree or equivalent;
- Background in marketing in an academic context;
- Experience with Ellucian Banner;
- Experience with web analytics tools, MicroStrategy, Salesforce/TargetX and application products; and
- Understanding of and commitment to promoting the value of an education in the liberal arts.
