This Resource Technologist position supports the Sample Processing and Cellular Immunology Lab operation of the Human Immunology Core (HIC) Facility. This individual will perform flow cytometry, Luminex, ELISA, Digital ELISA, ELISPOT, molecular assays or other assays/new technologies. This individual is also responsible for processing blood or other tissue samples including availability for late Friday and Saturday sample processing, if required. Additional duties include detailed manual and electronic record-keeping, sample inventory management, participating in equipment or reagent validation, sample shipment and retrieval, and development or updating of standard operating procedures.
This individual will serve as project manager or leader for several HIC projects per year and in this role he/she must interact effectively with HIC colleagues as well as with clients to design and conduct experiments, maintain quality control for the duration of a study, troubleshoot / recommend improvements, and meet deadlines. This individual is expected to keep abreast of emerging technologies in various immunology platforms and to recommend innovative methods, services, or products for the Core and its clients.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related subject and 3 – 5 years of laboratory work (wet bench) experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are strongly preferred. Experience with blood and other sample processing and cryopreservation, immunology assays and/or prior work in a clinical or GLP lab setting are preferred.
