Tenure-Track Associate/Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science (Ref.: 495775), to commence on January 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year contract.

This is a joint appointment between the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science in the Faculty of Science, with the former being the home department.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, with research areas related to big data. He/She should have a strong commitment to research and teaching. A solid track record in research is essential. Preference will be given to applicants who have applied research experience in big data, especially big data system development or big data analytics experience in domains such as internet data, financial data, market customer data, health data, smart city data, public services data and social science and humanities research data.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
