CHEF'S ASSISTANT/SERVER, Office of the President, to assist the chef with the planning, preparation, and execution of all aspects of the functions in two memorial rooms. Events are attended by senior officers and administrators, faculty, staff, corporation members, alumni, members of the MIT Women’s League, and guests of the Institute. Will be responsible for the primary table service for all events and provide sanitation and maintenance support for the function rooms. Duties will include food preparation, clearing tables, dishwashing, cleaning rooms, overseeing temporary catering staff, and other tasks as needed.
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; two years’ service/wait experience; ability to communicate effectively with guests, handle confidential information with discretion; and collaborate closely with others; and ability to lift and move chairs and folding tables. Overtime will be required, including working occasional weekend and evening functions.
Will have approximately two weeks off in the winter and nine weeks off in the summer.
