TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Hermann Lab, to be responsible for lab administration, mouse handling, and cell culture assays; and DNA cloning, FACS analyses, primary cell culture and isolation, and viral gene transfer. May also design and conduct specialized lab experiments for one's own independent research project. Other duties will include summarizing and documenting research results and finding to researchers; initiating and recommending changes to manuals and procedures for own area; participating in planning and execution of lab events, including lab meetings; maintaining vendor relationships and equipment service/contacts/records; making recommendations for new and/or revisions to policies and procedures; communicating, interpreting, and training others on lab/departmental policies; and possibly providing general supervision for a lab UROP.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least two years' specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); relevant cellular biology/laboratory experience, including familiarity with molecular biology; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; comfort analyzing, summarizing, and reporting results to researchers; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and an awareness of basic safety issues, including the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. The position requires specific understanding of research and broad knowledge of the work of the lab and the ability to recognize the needs of the unit.
