The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Director of Pharmacy Education/Deputy Head within the School of Pharmacy. This post comes at an exciting point in the Schools’ development. The Lincoln School of Pharmacy has two successful undergraduate programmes: a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences and an innovative MPharm programme, which has gained full accreditation from the General Pharmaceutical Council, with no conditions or recommendations. The School has plans to develop further post-graduate research and teaching.

The School of Pharmacy, sits within the Joseph Banks Laboratories, in the city of Lincoln Brayford campus, which also houses the Schools of Life Sciences and Chemistry. This, along with the links to the School of Health and Social Care, the Lincoln Institute for Health, the new Medical School and the wider local health economy, fosters excellent opportunities for teaching, inter-professional development and learning, as well as research collaborations.

This appointment provides an opportunity for candidates who have either a strong research profile, or a strong teaching and professional practice profile, who wish to develop their academic management and leadership.  The successful post holder will provide strategic leadership of the School of Pharmacy, be a member of the senior management team, deputise for the Head of School and provide academic leadership for the continuing development and delivery of the MPharm and BSc courses, in line with the gold teaching excellence standard awarded to the university in 2018.
Appointments may be made to either the Teaching and Research (T&R) or Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) role profiles, and a professorial appointment may be possible if a candidate meets the University criteria for either role profile.

The post holder would ideally have:

  • Academic and leadership experience in academic pharmacy, the health care arena or a relevant area of science
  • A postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning in HE (or equivalent)
  • A track record of quality and innovation in teaching
  • A demonstrable track record of either research or scholarship and professional practice.
