Palmerston North
The School of Food and Advanced Technology at Massey University in Palmerston North is looking to appoint a Food Technologist on a full-time, fixed term contract for three years to assist on the microwave-assisted food sterilisation projects.
We are looking for someone who has enthusiasm for the food industry, food product and process development and the NZ commercial environment to join our team.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- effectively and efficiently respond to enquiries from industry partners, academic and technical staff within the University
- support the team in development of systems and processes contributing to commercialisation of microwave technology
- maintain a database of key information relating to the development and validation of food products
- support research projects undertaken by Massey or our industry partners
Experience:
- Sound knowledge on a broad range of aspects of food technology ideally thermal processing technologies but including ingredients, product development, shelf life and sensory
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team on complex projects
- Food processing, product and/or process development(desirable)
- Microsoft Office suite of products
Required skills include the following:
- Project management
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work independently or part of a team
- Be flexible, show initiative and be resourceful
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in food technology or similar
The project is conducted through the Food Industries Engineering Technologies Programme (FIET) and is a research collaboration that supports the development of new and emerging food processing technologies with the potential to add significant value to the New Zealand economy.
