The School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing (SATM) is a leading provider of postgraduate level engineering education, research and technology support. The Propulsion Engineering Centre enjoys global visibility and extensive links with industry. The Centre is looking to expand its internationally renowned activities by the recruitment of a suitable full-time Research Fellow. The purpose of this post is to deliver research in the area of propulsion systems aerodynamic integration. The computational studies will focus on engine intake aerodynamics engine / airframe integration and the modelling of object ingestion and trajectory prediction for fan and engine testing. This will include advanced unsteady CFD modeling using a range of methods. This will mainly comprise work in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. Additional responsibilities include publishing papers in high-quality journals as well as assisting with MSc and PhD student projects.

You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, as well as aerodynamics experience. You will have recent experience of computational fluid dynamics, ideally in the aerospace field. Good skills in engineering computing and programming are also required and experience of optimisation methods would be beneficial. A demonstrated ability to write high quality journal papers and reports is also needed.
