Research Specialist for Drosophila research laboratory. Design and perform experiments. Gather data, analyze data and present data at laboratory meetings and at national scientific meetings. Research includes maintenance of Drosophila stocks, Drosophila genetics for screens, Drosophila histological analysis, Drosophila molecular biological analysis including generation of RNA, performing PCR, cloning, preparation of constructs, all in aid of scientists in the laboratory. Work also includes maintaining records of reagents and reagent use within the laboratory by computer documentation. Work includes help with various other tasks associated with research and generation of reagents for ongoing research in the laboratory.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field and 1 years to 3 years of research experiment experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 1 to 3 years experience in the maintenance of Drosophila stocks, working with Drosophila genetics for screens, Drosophila histological analysis and Drosophila molecular biological analysis preferred.
