The Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre (QTEC) represents a world-first for quantum enterprise training. As part of the University of Bristol’s multi-disciplinary Quantum Engineering Technology Labs (QET Labs), this high profile and unique training centre, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), creates a world-leading Centre to provide academics with an idea for a quantum-inspired technology with the necessary skills and support to begin their own company in the emerging quantum technology industry.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to take up an exciting new role within QTEC’s operations and delivery team. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Enterprise, Jane Garrett, the QTEC Enterprise Developer will support the Fellows during their programme, offering mentoring and advice on the development of their new commercial ventures. The Enterprise Developer will also play a key role in facilitating effective interaction with our network of partners, including the UK National Network of Quantum Technology Hubs and other academic and business partners as well as representing QTEC at national and international events as well as undertaking associated administrative duties as required. A key element of the role is to support the development of a distinctive 'innovation led entrepreneurship' ethos and approach to teaching through project-based learning.

The post-holder is expected to be proactive and have the ability to work independently. You will have relevant experience, for example within business development or commercialisation; excellent networking, organisation and teaching skills; the ability to plan and prioritise workloads and to meet multiple deadlines.

The position offers an exceptional career opportunity for the right person to play a key role in the continuous development of this strategically important enterprise centre at the University of Bristol. It will provide a unique experience of scientific, enterprise, network and more general administration in a world-class research and training environment.

Based in One Cathedral Square, College Green within both the School of Physics and School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the post is offered full-time with funding available up to 31st March 2021. Please note that the successful candidate must be able to start within 3 months of the interview date.

For more information, please direct informal enquiries to Jane Garrett (jane.garrett@bristol.ac.uk), Deputy Director of Enterprise at QTEC.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
