The Director of Business Operations leads the fiscal and human resources functions for the Office of International Affairs (OIA) in alignment with university policies and operational best practices to advance the international dimensions of Ohio State. International Affairs functions served by Business Operations include International Students and Scholars, Education Abroad, Area Studies Centers and Institutes, and Global Innovations such as the Global Gateways and Global One Health initiative (GOHi). As an integral part of the OIA leadership team, the Director of Business Operations performs strategic planning, and works closely with the OIA leadership team to achieve excellent financial stewardship, operational efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability in a rapidly evolving and highly dynamic environment.

This position serves as a seasoned and trusted advisor to the Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs on fiscal and personnel matters, performs in-depth financial analyses, evaluates revenue and expenditure data, identifies opportunities and threats, develops scenario plans, develops operating budget for OIA, and projects revenues, expenditures and student enrollment figures. — The Director oversees the OIA finance, human resources, and operations environment, as well as develops and implements policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, appropriate segregation of duties, mandatory approvals, monitoring and oversight of mandatory reconciliations, and mandatory procedures to maintain effective investment in University assets. The position works closely with the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), Office of Human Resources (OHR), Business and Finance (BF) and other university stakeholders to ensure integration and alignment with University and OAA priorities. This role supervises managerial and support staff.

The Director exercises flexibility and adaptability to university, OAA, and OIA priorities and ensures that business operations performance objectives are aligned with strategic goals, develops and monitors indicators of success, serves as subject matter expert on university-wide initiatives, convenes and leads a ‘Global Operations’ working group to advance Ohio State competencies in international operations, and provides valuable coaching and mentoring that elevates people and performance. The Director brings a valued fiscal perspective to crucial conversations and influences decisions in the best interest of Ohio State.
