RED works with academics, researchers, students and a wide range of research bodies, charities, businesses and government bodies, both within and outside the University of Bristol. Whatever the nature of the research or research opportunity, RED has the people with the experience, knowledge, networks and expertise to assist.

Working on behalf of a top 5 research-intensive University, RED’s Research Contracts Team currently negotiates over 2000 research related legal agreements per year ranging in value up to tens of millions of pounds, often including provision for careful risk management - in supporting clinical studies, for example. RED is looking to appoint a contracts specialist at a senior level in the existing team.

Ideally with proven experience as a contracts specialist within a research centric or similar environment the successful candidate will be capable of working fully independently, and as part of a highly professional and busy team, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts that are often complex or strategically important to the University and involving a wide range of stakeholders. You will be a confident and able communicator with the ability to build relationships, negotiate and influence effectively at all levels as well as having a highly-tuned understanding of how to achieve satisfactory conclusions in an efficient, cooperative, and timely manner. The ability to work in a close-knit team with a commitment to a best in class service is also essential.

Reporting to a Senior Contracts Manager you will have the ability to assess, draft, and negotiate the more challenging contracts, whilst providing active and continuous guidance, support, and encouragement to more junior team members. Knowledge and understanding of the Higher Education sector would also be an advantage.

This post is fixed term for 12 months in the first instance to cover staff secondment. There is potential for the post to transition to open ended following the 12 month initial fixed term period depending on the budget and staffing position at that time.

For further information on this opportunity or to discuss your application on an informal basis please contact Christine Nileshwar, Senior Contracts Manager (christine.nileshwar@bristol.ac.uk Tel. 0117 42 84057)

Closing date for applications: 11.59pm on Monday 10th June 2019.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
