Working with a high degree of independence, to oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities. To collect, enter, summarize, analyze and interpret data. To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies and to help develop long or short term goals.

Senior level researcher needed to oversee and manage research with in a fairly new lab. Individual will investigate the role of inflammation in cardiovascular biology and function, including cellular signaling; stem/progenitor cell biology and inflammation. These studies performed in model systems, including genetically modified mouse models. Extensive prior research experience required.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Manage and perform molecular and cellular studies such as Cell culture; nucleic acid extraction and analysis, western blotting and quantitative and real-time PCR, preparing and analyzing data; fluorescence microscopy; organizing laboratory equipment and materials; flow cytometry; Immunohistochemistry; and preparing solutions and reagents.

Responsible for successful animal husbandry, genotyping, surgeries, tissue collection, drug treatments and monitoring.

Overall lab management to management of compliance related materials, forms and documentation.

Responsible for accurate record keeping, overseeing of spending/purchasing of inventory, oversight of chemical inventory and all research supplies.

Perform and train others in routine items such as staining and fixing of mouse tissue.

As lab grows, will be responsible for timekeeping and schedules of junior staff.

Develop new research interests and procedures.

Doctorate in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

PCR, RT-PCR and DNA Sequencing experience, western blot, cell culture all helpful skills to have.
