Working with a high degree of independence, to oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities. To collect, enter, summarize, analyze and interpret data. To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies and to help develop long or short term goals.

The Researcher IV will be a leader in the lab, overseeing direction of daily operations of the Center for Exercise Medicine Core Muscle Research Laboratory. The Researcher IV will be responsible for coordination of external UAB users of the core services provided and contribute to the design and execution of experiments including, but not limited to molecular biology and histology aimed at understanding muscle regeneration under normal and pathologic conditions. The incumbent will contribute in the preparation of grant applications and manuscripts, and communicate with management as to the function and status of progress in the lab.

Doctorate in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, possess leadership skills, and advanced knowledge of lab practices.
