The Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for an Associate Scientist. This position will provide technical expertise during planning, preparation, data collection, statistical processing, and analysis processes of the surveys. Special emphasis is placed on collaboratively developing technically sound and relevant survey objectives; identifying and testing measurement and data collection protocols, including developing instructions, training, and quality assessment procedures; and analyzing survey data for quality assessment and biological interpretations. The position serves as secondary liaison between CSSM and NRCS staff, both at ISU (3 NRCS staff co-located at ISU) and around the country (principally Portland, OR; Greensboro, NC; Ft. Worth, TX; and Beltsville, MD)
In addition, the Associate Scientist will work closely with CSSM NRI survey methods and statistical processing managers, on-site USDA collaborators, and CSSM faculty to manage staff and operational activities for multiple concurrent surveys and serve as a technical expert in several subject-matter areas for the NRI survey; principally area data protocol development and ecological features.
