Research Technician - Biomedical Engineering, School of Engineering


This is a Limited Term position with possibility up to 24 months. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
Department Summary:
The Biomedical Engineering Department is multi-disciplinary, with significant emphasis on research in areas such as medical instrumentation, biomedical optics, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. With an active research and teaching program, Biomedical Engineering offers comprehensive education and research opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, and industrial colleagues interested in these fields.
The Department actively coordinates and interfaces with other Departments, Schools, and programs at, and outside, the University to foster research collaborations at its facilities.
Job Summary:
This research technician job exists to assist in the cultivation, maintenance and expansion of mammalian cells and organoids in support or a range of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine studies. This includes characterization of the cells with various assays, along with daily/ weekly lab maintenance tasks in maintaining and expanding the cells, as well as standardized assays in support of their characterization. In addition, genetic modification of the cells will involve various molecular biology techniques for selective control of cell functions.


Basic Requirement:
B.S. in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering or bioengineering or related background. Some biological laboratory experience is required. Background in cell culture essential, in molecular biology helpful.
Preferred Requirement:
Background in biology with mammalian cell culture experience, experience with molecular biology techniques helpful.
