The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) of the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a:

Professor in Applied Economics with a focus on the areas of environmental economics, development economics and public economics (M/F)

About us: 
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance offers three Bachelor programmes, six Master programmes and six Masters of Laws (LL.M.), as well as several continuing education courses. It also includes the Doctoral School in Law and the Doctoral School in Economics and Finance. Around 2,500 students from 90 different nationalities are enrolled at the Faculty. Academic staff from 18 different nationalities teach at the Faculty, supported by practitioners from the field, visiting scholars and guest professors. Rooted in Luxembourg but with a European and international outlook, the Faculty counts three research units: 

  • Research Unit in Law 
  • Centre for Research in Economics and Management, including the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management 
  • Luxembourg School of Finance 

Teaching and research benefit from the proximity of the European institutions, Luxembourg’s leading international financial centre and its vibrant business community. About Luxembourg

Your Role 
The selected candidate will take part in the education activities of the University, providing reliable, high-quality teaching capacity at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. This comprises instruction in the Bachelor in Economics and Management, in the Master in Finance and Economics as well as the Master in Quantitative Economics and Finance, and finally valuable contribution to PhD education through formal supervision and participation in the Doctoral School, as well as informal guidance and initiatives to PhD candidates. 
The selected candidate will be an experienced scholar working at the intersection of public, environmental and development economics, with the ability to perform and administer high quality scientific research leading to publications in the premier journals of the discipline. The selected candidate will create increased research expertise, international visibility and joint publication opportunities for the department. The selected candidate will also be knowledgeable about inter-organizational collaboration and willing to reach out and contribute to the design and development of joint research initiatives involving other Luxembourgish, as well as foreign, research institutions. 

Your Profile 

  • Ph.D. in Economics (for at least 3 years)
  • A research focus at the intersection of the areas of environmental economics, development economics and public economics, from a theoretical or empirical perspective 
  • A record of publication and citation in internationally recognized, high-ranked journals (according to accepted rankings such as Scopus, CNRS, ABCD, Handelsblatt, …) 
  • Established communication and teaching skills, with a commitment to the importance of scholarship, high-quality education and cultural diversity 
  • Experience in working in and leading international research teams, and willingness to engage in Faculty management roles and input to pedagogical development 
  • The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and in one of the two official languages of Luxembourg: French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other official language and provides access to language courses to this end.
