Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology

Location: Lincoln
Salary: From £18,000 per annum
This post is full time at 37 hours per week and fixed term for 1 year.
Closing Date: Monday 17 June 2019
Interview Date: Thursday 04 July 2019

The University of Lincoln puts students at the heart of everything we do. Added to that, we are a research-based university with quality teaching and excellent career prospects for our graduates. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT). LIAT is committed to supporting and enhancing productivity, efficiency and sustainability in food and farming through research, education and technology. Based at our headquarters at the University’s Riseholme Campus, we offer an ideal setting for testing farm innovations, supporting short course training courses, crop trials and experimentation.

Key to the work that we are doing is our ability to engage with stakeholders and guests on site, the numbers of which are increasing weekly. The intern role will ultimately give a University of Lincoln graduate intern the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the area of project co-ordination, key partnership working, communications, use and presentation of data to assist analysis of access to short course teaching.

The role will assist the administration team within LIAT in also carrying out the department’s marketing and communication strategy. This will involve building the Institute’s Social Media presence and helping to create engaging promotional content. It will also involve participation in activities and events such as breakfast briefings, public engagement events on campus, exhibitions and conference attendance and other information events.

In addition to the departmental role, you will also join the University's intern development programme, ‘The Lincoln Award (Graduate Interns)’. This is an integrated programme and will include a range of workshops and group organisational project. The aim of the programme is to help you build up your key transferable skills as well as developing you both personally and professionally. The programme enables you to build a personal portfolio, allowing you to reflect on your learning and development throughout your employment with us.

It is expected that the successful candidate will fully engage in the development programme as part of this graduate intern role. Please note you do not need to have completed the Lincoln Award at undergraduate level to apply for this position. The appointment is offered on a fixed term basis with a planned end date of one year from start date, and is fixed term due to the post being a one year internship.

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.

The closing date given is a guide. We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applications, so we advise you to submit your application early to prevent disappointment.
