The School of Psychiatry is widely reputed as the pre-eminent psychiatric research department in the country, and one of the leading university groups internationally. It is located at the UNSW teaching hospitals at various metropolitan sites in the Sydney region and in rural New South Wales. The Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) in the School of Psychiatry is an international centre of excellence in multidisciplinary research into the ageing brain, including examining various aspects of cognitive disorders and dementia, as well as undertaking research into the prevention, treatment and assessment of cognitive ageing.

The Data Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of data pipelines and collections emanating from the longitudinal cohort studies, multi-institutional research consortia, and other projects undertaken by the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA), UNSW Sydney.

About the role

  • $93K-$101K plus 9.5% superannuation and leave loading pro rata
  • Fixed Term for 12 months from date of appointment.
  • Full time (35 hrs/week) or part time (28 hours/week) for the right candidate..

As a Data Manager you will manage the CHeBA data collection systems, pipeline, and database management, including coordinating quality assurance and feedback processes for various research projects; Manage ad-hoc requests and perform relevant analysis using database and statistical analytic software e.g. R, SQL, SPSS, SAS, STATA, MS Excel; Oversee and enhance data quality by reviewing, harmonising, and curating data collections; Design, implement and maintain research data and administrative systems; Prepare data extracts, summaries and reports for publications, national reports, regulatory functions, and research studies.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in data science, health informatics or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with large and complex health research data together with a working knowledge of relevant terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a range of national and international stakeholders, including clinical and non-clinical and non-statistical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated high level data skills including data base design and management, data cleaning, documentation and management
  • Outstanding organisational skills, ability to priorities workload and meet deadlines while paying meticulous attention to detail
