Biopolymer Process Scientist
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering invites applications for an Assistant Scientist IV to participate in the direction and execution of Cochran Group research activities, including those conducted at the Iowa State University (ISU) Biopolymer Processing Facility located at the BioCentury Research Farm. The purpose of the facility is to produce demonstration scale quantities of biorenewable polymers developed at ISU for a variety of projects.
The Scientist will be responsible for managing the development and documentation of standard operating procedures; procuring materials, and logistical arrangements of materials transfer among partners (both ISU and non-ISU); processing safety management compliance; and overseeing day-to-day operation of the facility. This position will also indirectly supervise junior plant operators and assist with laboratory research projects, grant and journal article writing, project management, and laboratory management.
