This post is part-time, 20 hours per week for 24 months until June 2021. 

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow in the School of Media, Culture & Society at the University of the West of Scotland. The Researcher will work under the supervision of Professor David McGillivray on the HERA funded project he leads: Festivals, Events and Inclusive Public Spaces in Europe (FESTSPACE).

This project aims to explore the role of festivals and events in the inclusivity of streets, squares and parks in Glasgow, with a particular focus on the who uses these festive spaces and with what intended outcomes. The research will establish how festivals and events affect people’s attachment to public spaces and the ways they are used. 

The post holder will play a significant role in this project by undertaking research and by analysing / writing up findings. Applicants should be familiar with key ideas and literatures in the fields of festivals and events and / or public space planning and management. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and excellent research and communication skills. 

This post is available from June 2019 and is funded for 24 months.
