Oxford Brookes University Business School's research aim is to deliver internationally excellent and world leading research with impact. The School has recently re-organised its research infrastructure into three high performing research centres and secured significant external research funding from a range of highly prestigious sources, including Nuffield Foundation, British Academy Newton Fund, EPSRC and EU Horizon 2020. In order to support and sustain these successful activities and deliver its research strategy OBBS is seeking to appoint an individual with a strategic mind-set, able to work independently with excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills to support the School achieve its research ambition. 

You will work closely with the School Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange (ADRKE) and the Directors of the School Research Centres to support the implementation of School's research strategic objectives, coordinate the preparation of the School Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission, and to promote the School's research and help research active staff to develop pathway to research impact.

You will also lead on the development of the School's research publicity, working  closely with Associate Deans and marketing and communication as necessary.

Additionally the post-holder will represent the School on or to appropriate external bodies and represent the Associate Dean Research and Knowledge Exchange on committees or at events when required.

As Research Manager you should have:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Significant administrative experience in a research organisation and / or Higher Education
  • A good knowledge and understanding of research processes and activities
  • Experience of organising resources effectively and of research-related administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with, and influence academic staff
  • Minute taking skills
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex information.
