The Universities of Bristol and Bath have recently been awarded funding to host an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Cyber Security.

The EPSRC CDT in Trust, Identity, Privacy and Security in Large Scale Infrastructures (TIPS-at-Scale) is a major investment from the UK Government, Industry and host universities to train the next generation of leaders in ensuring that the UK has a resilient, safe future environment.

The CDT will train 5 intakes of (at least) 10 students in interdisciplinary approaches to TIPS in large scale, hyperconnected systems. Students will benefit from a wide range of additional activities, including master-classes, summer schools, industrial placements, outreach and widening participation events and international laboratory visits.

The CDT Manager will be responsible for managing this major programme and play a central role in training this next generation of researchers. S/he will support the Leadership Team with programme management, including the day-to-day operations, e.g., student progress monitoring, student feedback, industrial placement and internships administration, student training, coordinating residentials, summer schools, financial and impact activities. The role involves working in close collaboration with the Centre Director, Professor Awais Rashid (University of Bristol) and Deputy Director, Professor Adam Joinson (University of Bath) as well as an administrator at Bath and a dissemination and publicity officer at Bristol.

The role requires efficient organisation skills, drive, tact and an attention to detail as well as a good appreciation of the challenges of PhD level study. An understanding of cyber security and its importance nationally and globally would be an advantage as would be experience of being involved in managing cyber security related projects.

The post is offered on a full-time contract with immediate start date.
Informal enquiries can be made to the Centre Director, Professor Awais Rashid by email: awais.rashid@bristol.ac.uk.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
