Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr Paul Caton. The protein eNAMPT/visfatin plays an important role in the pathophysiology of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and in particular beta-cell failure. The post holder will focus on investigating the therapeutic potential of novel eNAMPT modulating compounds, using mouse models of type 1 and/or type 2 diabetes, as well as human islets.

Minimum qualifications are a PhD with strong expertise in in vivo model systems and compound administration, plus experience of isolating and handling primary mouse islets. Experience in generation and analysis of in vivo models of diabetes is desirable. Candidates should be highly motivated individuals with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- PhD in a relevant biological sciences subject
- Strong expertise in compound administration to in vivo model systems
- Isolation and analysis of primary mouse islets
- Knowledge and experience of generating and phenotyping mouse models of obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes

- Home Office Licence

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
