Instructional Support Specialist II or III
The Human Development and Family Studies department at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as an Instructional Support Specialist to be filled at a level II or III. The position is primarily responsible for technical support for the learning management system (LMS) maintained by the Child Welfare Research and Training Project (CWRTP) to meet deliverables on behalf of a contract with the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). This individual will work collaboratively and communicate with CHS IT, University IT, and DHS IT on behalf of CWRTP. The focus is on day-to-day support for the LMS to ensure end-users have access to online courses. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely communication with regard to LMS status and changes, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise, and escalating issues when required. This individual supports CWRTP staff in their use of the LMS and related instructional technology tools, and assesses various technical needs for online training delivery. Position responsibilities also include assisting with setup of online courses with integrated recorded and streamlined content, providing functionality testing in different settings, responding to questions from end users, providing support for webinar delivery, and developing tutorials and resource guides. This individual will also provide indirect supervision to instructional support student assistant.
In addition to the duties above, the Instructional Support Specialist III will provide indirect supervison of student workers.
The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills with people of all levels of technical background. Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are also essential. This position falls within an annual contract between Iowa State University and the Iowa DHS that has been in existence since 1991.
