INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER, Information Systems and Technology (IS&T), to be responsible for the operations of secure, resilient, and highly available connectivity platforms, including MIT’s physical network infrastructure and data center facilities. Will install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve MIT’s physical infrastructure systems and operating environments; maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the infrastructure; and effectively support the coordination of scheduled shutdowns of electrical systems affecting network equipment.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or business administration or relevant field and three years’ relevant experience or seven years without a bachelor's; experience with multiple infrastructure solutions, data centers, LAN/WANs, networking, VoIP, WiFi, and operating systems; ability to plan, design, and execute infrastructure installation efforts; working knowledge of 802.11 wireless systems and components; strong working knowledge of commonly used network cabling infrastructure, including OSP copper/fiber, UTP CAT5E/CAT6/CAT6A in horizontal and backbone configurations; ability to identify various system components within a network TR and troubleshoot on an existing network infrastructure; understanding of 120/208 volt AC power systems, including power distribution components located within network TRs such as PDUs and UPS systems; ability to handle multiple projects and duties simultaneously; ability to communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues/peers who support troubleshooting and problem solving; and teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with other members of formal/informal groups. Experience with wireless design and troubleshooting using AirMagnet and Ekahau products and with cloud-based VoIP platforms a plus; as is ability to troubleshoot OSP systems using handheld test equipment and TDR. Salary range: $75,000 - 90,000
