UWS is a university that dares to be different. We are proud that we are delivering on our purpose to change lives, transform communities and encourage enterprise through outstanding, distinctive and progressive higher education.
We have established ourselves as a force for good and there are numerous examples of pioneering research taking place at UWS right now which are having a very real and positive impact both nationally and internationally.
Our UWS School of Health & Life Sciences is the largest provider of nursing and midwifery education in Scotland with over 2,300 students on our Pre-registration programmes. Our graduates and staff are making an immense contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of the nation.
As such, we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual who is NMC registered to join the team as Deputy Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences at UWS to further continue this success.
In return, you will be part of a University that is really going places and which continues to attract national and international recognition. We are ranked within the top 500 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 and also in the top 150 in the Times Higher Education Young University World Rankings 2018.
In 2019, UWS rose 8 places in The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide and jumped 10 places in the highly prestigious UK Complete University Guide League Tables, with our nursing courses showing the greatest improvement in the Scottish sector, climbing 22 places, as well as being ranked highest in Scotland for research intensity and joint no 1 in research intensity in UK.
Our teaching and learning environments are second to none; we were ranked by The Times and Sunday Times in their Good University Guide as being in the top 3 universities in Scotland for teaching excellence and in the top 5 for student experience and graduate prospects. Whilst our Midwifery course scored 100% overall student satisfaction in the 2018 National Student Survey.
Last September we opened the doors to our brand new award winning £110m Lanarkshire Campus, designed to showcase the future of learning. With cutting edge facilities and ultra-modern, flexible teaching and learning spaces, our Campus is at the forefront of education. It is innovative, dynamic and collaborative and hosts Scotland’s newest simulated nursing and midwifery teaching environment, allowing our students to be immersed in their chosen calling from day one.
At UWS our motto is Dream, Believe, Achieve something we keep at the forefront of our minds every single day. If this is the philosophy you live by, then we want to hear from you.
