The Role & Your Responsibilities

The School seeks a Teacher, Interactive Media (IM) who will be responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in selected courses in the School's Interactive Media program. The Teacher will deliver instruction including industry standard authoring software, graphic design and media production practices focusing on mobile app, games and VR/AR development technologies.

These roles may be required to undertake teaching and assessment in other programs in the School including associate degrees, diplomas, short courses and commercial training.

You will be able to demonstrate an industry background and teaching experience in Interactive Media. Evidence of substantial skills, knowledge and achievement in this area of expertise will be required.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong industry links with current media production knowledge to be able to deliver contemporary vocational competences in Mobile/Games/VR-AR design and development.

Demonstrated skills and development experience with most or all these technologies:

  • Unity3D, Unreal Engine
  • C#, C++, SQL, Javascript
  • ObjectiveC / Swift
  • Java/Kotlin
  • Android/iOS SDKs
  • JSON and REST-based APIs

You will also be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments; skills in effective presentation, facilitation and in the use of flexible teaching methods. Experience in competency-based assessment would be highly advantageous, and your ability to identify learning problems in students along with a desire to contribute as a constructive and proactive member will be essential to your success in the role.

The successful candidate will participate in continuing course development and review of course content, teaching methods (including digital delivery methods) and student assessment.

To be considered for these positions, it is essential that candidates possess a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE40110). In addition to holding the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment,

you will need to hold:

  • Either one of the following:
    • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
    • TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Plus one of the following:
    • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
    • TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools
    • TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools.

If you do not currently hold the relevant units, you will need to complete them before 1 April 2019 to meet the new requirements.
