The Dean of Students is the principal architect of this internal culture and of Penn Law’s student-focused community. The Dean of Students works closely with the Dean and faculty members; collaborates with senior staff in student-service departments; counsels on, addresses, and triages a wide array of student academic, professional, and personal issues and concerns; oversees all student activities and events; and interfaces on behalf of Penn Law with the Vice Provost for University Life, Student Disabilities Services, Student Health, and other relevant University departments. The Dean of Students is a perceptive and principled leader who can build upon Penn Law’s deep foundation in providing a student-centered pedagogical environment in which each learner is inspired to do his or her best work. The Dean of Students is the essential advisor to students, exemplifying and modeling good judgment, tact, discretion, and professionalism. The Dean of Students partners with faculty, staff, students, and University departments to ensure a vibrant, challenging, and substantively-rich environment at Penn Law.
Highly advanced professional discipline. M.D., Ph. D., Law degree or equivalent doctoral degree and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
