The Mellon College of Science (MCS) is home to four departments and many programs and research centers that cross disciplines. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our departmental strengths in the core sciences. MCS faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance and neuroscience.

The Department of Biological Sciences within the Mellon College of Science is seeking a full-time Research Associate I to work in the laboratory of Dr. Aryn Gittis. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and execution of histology experiments investigating compensatory plasticity in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease, behavioral experiments and molecular biology.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Perform research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed research records.
• Summarize statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation.
• Oversee general laboratory maintenance.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree and one-year experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Knowledge of general laboratory techniques, scientific research methods and data collection.
• Ability to pay strict attention to protocol preparation.
