PROJECT-BASED LEARNING COACH AND DESIGNER, Comparative Media Studies/Writing-MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program (STEP), to work with teachers and MIT researchers to develop and facilitate professional learning experiences for educators that align with MIT's mens et manus approach to learning. Will serve in a leadership role, co-developing a vision for professional learning experiences with XQ teachers focused on interdisciplinary, project-based learning; build relationships with a diverse group of teachers nationwide; develop online learning resources to support teachers, specifically helping them plan/manage projects and project logistics; work alongside a diverse team of staff and consultants across the country; facilitate face-to-face learning experiences; coach teachers; and collaborate with MIT learning scientists to share best practices.
The MIT STEP aims to co-create playful, powerful learning experiences for high school students and teachers.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in education/related field; experience building credibility and trust with teachers and school leaders; at least five years’ K-12 classroom teacher experience using interdisciplinary, project-based approaches or working with schools and teachers in a similar professional learning context; deep content knowledge and expertise in at least one discipline (STEM, CS preferred) or subject area and comfort working across disciplines; experience working with educators as learners, developing and facilitating workshops or other professional learning experiences, conducting observations, and coaching educators; demonstrated leadership experience in a school environment; ability to balance current educational requirements and accountability with efforts to rethink high school and to work both independently and in teams; self-direction; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience working in newly created high schools, teacher education, and online/blended learning; and experience interfacing with diverse organizations and/or working in complex environments with changing conditions. There will be travel four to six times a year and some evening and weekend work.
