In recognition of the University’s drive and commitment towards apprenticeships, UCB have recently launched a dedicated apprenticeship department comprising a number of varied roles, tasked with working together to grow and develop our provision and build relationships with employers.

As a result of this growth, we are now seeking to appoint an Operations Manager, who will be responsible for managing a team of Learning and Skills Development Coaches, who work across a range of vocational areas, to achieve operational objectives in alignment with the University’s apprenticeship strategy and ensure compliance with funding agency requirements.

The successful candidate will be adept at relationship building both with staff, and new and existing employers. You will take a proactive role in ensuring the progress of our apprenticeships, and report to management regarding success and challenges.

Essential requirements include management experience, preferably in an education or training setting, and a track record of delivering operational plans. You will be an excellent communicator, with sound organisation and IT skills, and the ability to drive performance through independent and collaborative means. Demonstrated knowledge of audit and compliance requirements relative to apprenticeships is also expected.

Staff benefits include 38 days’ paid leave per year, excellent staff development opportunities, pension scheme and a private healthcare policy.

Note for applicants:

All applicants for employment at the University will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda in the context of further and higher education.

For further information on this position, and the wider apprenticeship team, contact the Director of Apprenticeships, Gail Tipper on 0121 604 1000 ext. 2565.
