Position Summary:

A dynamic, progressive institution with a well-justified reputation for excellence in teaching and research, Flinders University seeks to appoint a Lecturer within the College of Medicine and Public Health in the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP).

The NTMP has a strong commitment to building the rural and remote health workforce by delivering innovative clinical placements across the Northern Territory. Medical students can undertake up to a year of study in a remote location. The Flinders MD recognises and values the contribution that Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous doctors make to the health of our country and this is reflected in our teaching program. The NTMP is committed to increasing the number of Indigenous doctors and improving health outcomes for Indigenous people.

The Lecturer Clinical Skills/ Doctor & Patient (D&P) Year 2 position with Flinders NT, based in Darwin, coordinates and teaches clinical and communication skills across Year 2 of the Flinders MD program, so that NTMP students begin Year 3 with clinical and communication skills at the expected level of performance. The lecturer will also be expected to play a role in curriculum development, assessments and examinations and into the Year 1 D&P Program when required.

Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid 'Working with Children Clearance' (Ochre Card).
