The Institute for Transportation (InTrans) is a $20 million research organization at Iowa State University that includes seven centers and seven programs. InTrans conducts transportation-related research and outreach, and addresses the education and workforce development needs of future transportation professionals. InTrans’ mission is to develop and implement innovative methods, materials, and technologies for improving transportation system efficiency, safety, reliability, and sustainability while improving the learning environment of students, faculty, and staff in transportation-related fields.

This position is for the Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE) within the Institute for Transportation (InTrans) at Iowa State University.
This individual will manage research activities in the area of transportation engineering; manage data collection, reduction and development of databases; conduct statistical analyses; write and debug code for data management and analyses; and take responsibility for ensuring assigned activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

The individual in this position will be expected to represent CTRE by serving on professional organization committees and maintaining memberships in professional organizations in addition to traveling to meetings and conferences to present research and gain additional expertise.

The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, assemble and manage multidisciplinary project teams involving several organizations; and must be able to effectively present ideas, proposals, programs, and findings in public forums. The individual will also assist in identifying opportunities for research as well as proposing, leading and implementing research projects. This individual will interact with local, state, and federal transportation officials regarding transportation research and supervise graduate students where appropriate.
