We have great ambitions at Kingston University, in delivering excellent student experience within a strong research culture. As Associate Dean Research, Business & Innovation in the Kingston School of Art Faculty (KSA), you will have responsibility for the strategic leadership for the development of Research, Business & Innovation in the Faculty. 

This is an important leadership role, requiring vision, knowledge, insight and the energy and ability to achieve shared success. You’ll provide strategic leadership for research and enterprise, and hold responsibility for all areas of KSA’s research performance, budget and quality control, with adherence to financial regulations, the development of inventive and effective income-generating activities and relationships with other schools and faculties.

You’ll be an inspiration to people too, overseeing recruitment and selection, setting targets, mentoring and developing staff, monitoring achievement and managing the performance & development appraisal process (as appropriate).

As a member of the Faculty Management Group, you will also play a full and active role in the strategic and operational leadership of the Faculty.

The Person
An accomplished academic leader, you will have experience in leading teams and inspiring at every turn. You will also bring experience of successfully managing change in a complex environment. You will have a proven and substantive track record in your own area of research, including inclusion in last REF submission, and evidence of international esteem.

You’ll have experience of successfully acquiring external funding and research grants to enhance Faculty income, and a strong track record of engagement with commercial and industrial/professional partners.

More broadly, you will share the University’s commitment to building on existing strengths and working with colleagues to implement appropriate experiences for success from our ethos of opportunity for all.

Your ability to enhance KSA’s research identity and profile will be crucial. In so doing you will ability to create an environment where people work towards a common goal and are held to account, individually and as a team for the agreed output of their work.
