Job Purpose:

The Director will be responsible for a number of areas: 

• The development of Innovate UK strategy within UKRI and the annual strategic delivery plan;
• Our economic impact and evaluation process across all our programmes;
• Our comprehensive spending review submission and evidence;
• Our skills, talent and equality, diversity and inclusion programmes;
• Our public-facing business engagement activity;
• Be the key interface to the Devolved Administrations and Governments and all the English Regions through a dedicated team of UK-wide regional management.  

Experience required:

• Demonstrable experience of establishing strategic interventions with evidence of successful outcomes;
• Successful management of multiple senior and executive stakeholders with conflicting demands and priorities;
• Effective management of significant budgets, implementing cost-control and forecasting in a tightly-controlled environment;
• Considerable experience of innovation or research, business competitiveness and technology policy or delivery;
• Considerable experience of managing programmes and delivering a broad range of benefits, across the Public and Private sectors; 
• Previous experience of building and leading a high-performance team across multiple locations to deliver exceptional results.
• Understanding of the structure of government and key UK Research and Innovation partner organisations as well as its constituent agencies and brands, as well as the Devolved Administrations.
