Position Description
The Shamble Lab at Harvard University is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow position. The lab works on questions at the intersection of sensory neurophysiology, biomechanics, and animal behavior. Rooted in evolutionary and comparative biology, our work is highly interdisciplinary and candidates from across the sciences and engineering fields are encouraged to apply. Research in the lab focuses on jumping spiders (family: Salticidae)—animals with remarkable vision, and which are capable of complex decision-making, cognitive, and locomotor tasks. The current opening is for a motivated postdoc to contribute to, and help shape, ongoing projects in the lab—including studies of locomotion, neurophysiology (especially vision), animal behavior, and mimicry.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD related to evolutionary/organismal biology, neuroscience, biomechanics, physics, engineering, computer vision, or a relevant field by the time the appointment begins.
Additional Qualifications
Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required.
