Lecturer in Management and Organisations
Applications close: June 17, 2018
NYU Sydney is seeking a lecturer to teach the subject 'Management and Organisations' to undergraduate students during the NYU semester from February-May, 2020.
Class meets once a week for three hours at our academic centre in The Rocks.
The appointed person will take responsibility for the coordination of the course including preparing the weekly classes as well as setting assignments and grading. Lecturers are paid at competitive casual academic rates aligned with local enterprise agreements. In addition to their teaching duties, they will be paid to attend an induction meeting during the orientation week prior and for periodic meetings and training.
The primary objective of the course is to help students understand the elements that contribute to organisational and employee success, as well as some of the common impediments to high performance. The course focuses on how organizations position themselves for success within their external environment, and how they organise and motivate their people. The course will explore how organisational leaders develop winning strategies, and design their organisation in a way that aligns structures, social relationships, tasks, human resource practices, and people to achieve those strategies. In exploring these issues, students will identify the challenges that organisational leaders and managers face as they try to make good decisions in the face of a constantly evolving industry environment, competing goals and agendas, and an increasingly diverse and global workforce.
The course sponsored by the Stern Business School. A sample syllabus is available on request.
