Skilled Trades Helper - Locksmith
Summary of Job Duties
The Skilled Trades Helper assists the Locksmith Technician in maintaining key and electronic access to University Housing facilities. This position will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing locks, key systems, and door hardware; interpreting Master Keying Guide; using appropriate discretion and special knowledge of lock systems to preserve the integrity of the university’s master key system while meeting customer requests; installing, servicing, and repairing various types of locks and security devices; installing and repairing door hardware and hydraulic closing fixtures; disassembling locks; repairing and replacing worn tumblers, springs, and other parts; cutting new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification; maintaining records of keys cut and records of work performed; ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices; troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining both mechanical locking and electronic key systems; performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. This position may be asked to assist other skilled trades as needed.
