Northeastern University seeks an accomplished and innovative leader to serve as its inaugural Director of Entrepreneurship (Director). The Director will play a strategic leadership role in ensuring the growth, health, and success of entrepreneurial enterprises and the entrepreneurial ecosystem at Northeastern University. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead and organize entrepreneurial activities at a top-ranked private, comprehensive research institution that is on a trajectory of unparalleled accomplishment.

The new Director of Entrepreneurship will join Northeastern University as it continues on its path of tremendous advances in academic and research rankings and unprecedented growth in student enrollment, faculty, staff, and physical resources. Since 2010, Northeastern’s research funding has nearly doubled, growing from $81.3M to $160.2M, with federal funding seeing comparable growth increasing from $64.1M to $121.9M in the same timeframe.

The University has also seen remarkable growth in foreign, industry, and foundation support over the past eight years.

The University is home to 30 federally funded research centers and its research environment includes many state-of-the-art facilities, including the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex, a 220,000-square-foot innovation ecosystem that serves as a hub for collaborative research. In 2018, the University saw four spin-outs and increase in industry engagement through the Center for Research Innovation. Northeastern is increasingly known as a global university with locations across the United State and around the world.

Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost for Research (SVPR), and with a reporting relationship to the Dean of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, the Director will serve as a critical resource to the University community on entrepreneurism, advising leadership on entrepreneurial activity, culture, and infrastructure. The Director will also work with the SVPR and Dean to develop and implement a strategic plan around entrepreneurship to advance University success on this dimension in alignment with the ambitious agenda laid out in the Northeastern2025 strategic plan.

The Director will promote relevant programs to University leadership, the Northeastern community, and external partners, including the University’s Global Network of business leaders, alumni, and students through the development of strong and positive relationships with its Colleges, Institutes, and Campuses. Integral to the Director’s success will be bridging the educational programs of entrepreneurship at Northeastern with actual development and execution, teaching and engaging with students along the continuum from concept to actualization, and playing a comparable role with faculty, educating and coaching them through the entrepreneurial process.
