Brief Description

To provide high quality research support and undertake internationally competitive research aimed at publication thereby contributing to the academic and research mission of the University.  Ability to present research plans and findings in a convincing style, both in oral and written modes of communication. Focus on in-memory computing AI algorithm targeting RRAM technology.  He/She will be part of research group to investigate memristor technology for computing

Detailed Description

The Research Associate will be assigned by the PI to support the research needs of one or more research tasks of an interdisciplinary research project dealing with AI algorithm optamization, mapping to architecture and micro architecture to achieve lower computing complexity, efficient power implementation   

The duties and responsibilities may include (as required):   

  • circuit and logic design for the AI algorithm in both analog or digital
  • Partition logic between control and crossbar to achieve best performance, and power 
  • Develop MR crossbar circuit architecture using Matlab and Spice 
  • Validate the proposed interface circuit using commercial MR crossbar
  • Integrate in Spice and Matlab the proposed circuit with the MR-based CNN algorithm
  • Participate in a prototype of Deep Mem that integrates the proposed circuit with the MR-based CNN
  • Participate in the final prototype using the fabricated MR crossbar
  • Bench mark the quality of the proposed solution compared to traditional approach

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

Master Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or computer Science with emphasize circuit logic and circuit design

Required Experience

Experience with lab instruments especially device characterization, modeling and circuit simulation is required.  Knowledge of Verilog and FPGA is a plus
