Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Architecture (Ref.: 495625), to commence as soon as possible for 3 years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.  The first 6 months will be the probation period.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Architecture/Urban Planning, Geography, Earth System Science or related fields.  They should be able to work with large data sets, and have excellent technical, organizational and communication skills, and team spirits.  They should also have at least 2-3 years’ research experience in sustainable urban or built environment research, preferably in the context of urban science, and demonstrated experience working with researchers using remote sensing technology or Geographic Information System analytics to process and develop land use land cover dataset for planning/implementation.  They should also have excellent written and spoken communication skills, the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and the ability to work with external parties.  Those with expertise in and technique of applied remote sensing and big data/open data informatics are preferred.  Applicants are expected to have at least 2 SCI journal publications as first author.

The appointee will work under Dr. Chao REN’s supervision and develop an urban form and urban greenery database and advance knowledge of fast urbanization and sustainable development especially for big cities and metropolitan urban regions.  He/She will be responsible for preparing research grants, preparing academic publications including journal papers and reports to achieve milestones and deliverables, liaising with different research teams, and may be required to undertake teaching duties related to the project.  He/She is expected to communicate and collaborate effectively with other related research teams to facilitate inter-faculty, interdisciplinary and innovative research with the international and interdisciplinary partners.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
